Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200, Global 200 Week of May 4, 2024

Hot Rap Songs: The Week's Most Popular Current

Rap Stars Dominate All Three Charts

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Billboard's Hot Rap Songs chart, the publication is counting down the top 100 songs in the tally's quarter-century history. Rappers can have platinum albums, clothing lines, stock in sports teams, and expensive jewelry, but rarely do hip-hop artists score a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

This week, however, is a different story. For the first time in history, the top three songs on the Billboard Hot 100 are all by hip-hop artists. Drake's "Nice for What" is at No. 1, Cardi B's "I Like It" is at No. 2, and Post Malone's "Psycho" is at No. 3. This is a major accomplishment for hip-hop, which has long been underrepresented on the Hot 100.

The dominance of hip-hop on the Hot 100 is also reflected on the Billboard 200 and Global 200 charts. Drake's album "Scorpion" is at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and Post Malone's album "Beerbongs & Bentleys" is at No. 2. On the Global 200 chart, Drake's "Nice for What" is at No. 1, and Cardi B's "I Like It" is at No. 2.

This week's charts are a clear indication that hip-hop is one of the most popular genres of music in the world. With its catchy beats and powerful lyrics, hip-hop is resonating with audiences of all ages and demographics.
